Why people move from SendGrid
SendGrid is a capable platform, and most people who leave are not leaving over features. They leave over what happens as volume grows: the step between plan tiers, support that is hard to reach on lower tiers, and — since the Twilio merger — a product that increasingly sits inside a much larger platform than they wanted.
Where SendGrid is better
SendGrid has been around far longer, has deeper integrations with established marketing stacks, and its Marketing Campaigns product is more mature than ours. If your team already runs on Twilio, staying inside one vendor is a real advantage that no feature table captures.

What the code change looks like
For a transactional integration this is usually the whole job: swap the SDK, change the key, verify the domain.
import sgMail from "@sendgrid/mail"
sgMail.setApiKey(process.env.SENDGRID_API_KEY)
await sgMail.send({
from: "you@yourdomain.com",
to: "customer@example.com",
subject: "Welcome aboard",
html: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})import { Pigeonify } from "pigeonify"
const pigeonify = new Pigeonify(process.env.PIGEONIFY_API_KEY)
await pigeonify.emails.send({
from: "you@yourdomain.com",
to: "customer@example.com",
subject: "Welcome aboard",
html: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})You can run both providers at once while you move. Publishing our DNS records alongside your existing ones does not stop SendGrid sending, so there is no cutover moment to get wrong.
Switching from SendGrid
- Can I keep my existing sending domain?
- Yes. You add the domain in Pigeonify, publish the DKIM and SPF records we give you alongside the ones you already have, and both providers can send while you move traffic across. Nothing has to be switched off first.
- Will my deliverability drop when I switch?
- Moving provider resets the reputation attached to the sending IP, not the reputation of your domain. If you are moving to a shared pool, send a small share of traffic for the first week and increase it gradually. If you are on a dedicated IP with SendGrid, warm the new one the same way you warmed that one.
- How long does migration take?
- For a transactional integration, usually under an hour: swap the SDK, change the API key, verify the domain. The DNS records take as long as your provider's propagation, typically minutes to a few hours.
