Looking for a Brevo alternative?
The same email volume for a fraction of the price, if email is what you actually need.
Why people move from Brevo
Brevo and Pigeonify both price by emails sent rather than contacts stored, so the usual Mailchimp complaint does not apply here. What people run into is the jump between tiers. Brevo's Standard plan is $18 a month, and the next tier up — Professional, which is where 150,000 emails a month sits — is $499. Pigeonify sends 150,000 for $65. The gap is not really about email: Professional bundles WhatsApp, push, ten seats, contact scoring and a set of AI features, and teams that only wanted the email volume end up paying for all of it.
Where Brevo is better
Brevo is a marketing suite and Pigeonify is email infrastructure, and for a lot of businesses the suite is the right purchase. Brevo has multi-step automation workflows, SMS and WhatsApp, landing pages, forms, a CRM, a drag-and-drop editor and AI assistance. Pigeonify has none of those — we do not have automation workflows at all. If you want one tool that runs your whole marketing stack rather than a reliable way to send email, buy Brevo.

What the code change looks like
For a transactional integration this is usually the whole job: swap the SDK, change the key, verify the domain.
const SibApiV3Sdk = require("@getbrevo/brevo")
const api = new SibApiV3Sdk.TransactionalEmailsApi()
api.setApiKey(SibApiV3Sdk.TransactionalEmailsApiApiKeys.apiKey, process.env.BREVO_API_KEY)
await api.sendTransacEmail({
sender: { email: "you@yourdomain.com" },
to: [{ email: "customer@example.com" }],
subject: "Welcome aboard",
htmlContent: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})import { Pigeonify } from "pigeonify"
const pigeonify = new Pigeonify(process.env.PIGEONIFY_API_KEY)
await pigeonify.emails.send({
from: "you@yourdomain.com",
to: "customer@example.com",
subject: "Welcome aboard",
html: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})You can run both providers at once while you move. Publishing our DNS records alongside your existing ones does not stop Brevo sending, so there is no cutover moment to get wrong.
Switching from Brevo
- Is Pigeonify cheaper than Brevo?
- At volume, substantially. 150,000 emails a month is $65 with us and $499 on Brevo's Professional plan, because that is the tier where the volume sits. Below roughly 20,000 emails a month the difference is small, and Brevo's Starter plan at $9 may well be cheaper than our $15 Pro plan. Compare at the volume you actually send rather than at the headline price.
- Does Pigeonify have automation workflows like Brevo?
- No. Brevo has multi-step automation and we do not have it at all. If a welcome series or an abandoned-cart flow is why you are shopping, Brevo does that today and we do not. It is on our roadmap, which is not the same as being available.
- What about SMS and WhatsApp?
- Brevo sends them and we do not. We are an email platform. If you need multiple channels in one tool, that is a real reason to stay where you are.
- Can I keep using SMTP?
- Yes. Both products offer an SMTP relay, so moving is usually a change of host and credentials rather than a rewrite. Our REST API is a one-call change if you would rather migrate properly, and the code on this page shows both sides of it.
- What happens to my contacts?
- Export them from Brevo as CSV and import them here. Our import checks every address for syntax, a working mail server, disposable domains and misspelled providers, and refuses a file with more than 2% invalid addresses — so a list that has aged badly will tell you before it costs you deliverability.
