Looking for a Postmark alternative?

Postmark's reliability, with marketing campaigns in the same account.

Why people move from Postmark

Postmark is excellent and has a deservedly strong reputation for transactional deliverability. People leave for one of two reasons: price at volume — $15 a month covers 10,000 emails, with extras from $1.80 per thousand — or because they need marketing campaigns and do not want a second vendor and a second list.

Where Postmark is better

Postmark's transactional deliverability and its support are both genuinely excellent, and their separation of transactional and broadcast streams is a sound design that protects sending reputation. If you send only transactional mail and price is not a constraint, there is no strong reason to move.

What the code change looks like

For a transactional integration this is usually the whole job: swap the SDK, change the key, verify the domain.

Before — Postmark
import { ServerClient } from "postmark"

const client = new ServerClient(process.env.POSTMARK_TOKEN)

await client.sendEmail({
  From: "you@yourdomain.com",
  To: "customer@example.com",
  Subject: "Welcome aboard",
  HtmlBody: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})
After — Pigeonify
import { Pigeonify } from "pigeonify"

const pigeonify = new Pigeonify(process.env.PIGEONIFY_API_KEY)

await pigeonify.emails.send({
  from: "you@yourdomain.com",
  to: "customer@example.com",
  subject: "Welcome aboard",
  html: "<p>Thanks for signing up.</p>",
})

You can run both providers at once while you move. Publishing our DNS records alongside your existing ones does not stop Postmark sending, so there is no cutover moment to get wrong.

Questions

Switching from Postmark

Does Pigeonify separate transactional and marketing streams?
Not as separate streams the way Postmark does. We separate them by sending domain instead, which achieves the same reputation isolation but requires you to set it up deliberately rather than getting it by default.
Is the deliverability as good?
Postmark has a longer track record on transactional deliverability and we would not claim to beat it. We send through AWS SES with full SPF, DKIM and DMARC, enforce suppression automatically, and suspend accounts whose bounce rate goes above 2% — which protects every other sender on the platform.
